Dell XPS 15 2-In-1 Review: One Of The Most Powerful Convertible Laptops Yet!

Full review with benchmarks right here!
Dell’s new 15-inch convertible wields Intel’s 8th generation Kaby Lake G processors with Radeon RX Vega graphics. More specifically, the XPS 15 2-in-1 offers buyers a choice between Intel’s Core i5-8305G or Core i7-8705G processors. These are both quad-core chips with HyperThreading support, the former clocked at 2.8GHz to 3.8GHz with 6MB of L3 cache, and the latter running at 3.1GHz to 4.1GHz with 8MB of L3 cache. Straight to the point, the Dell XPS 15 2-in-1 (9575) is a muscular machine in every respect, and deceptively so given its thin and relatively lightweight construction.

  2. is it possible to connect this laptop to an hdtv? i dont see a way to plug in hdmi to this…are there any converters that work?

  3. HP spectre x360 15" 4k with same processor and graphics is way cheaper and has an actual windows hello IR camera…a camera on top of the bezel so people are not looking up your nose like the dell..a windows hello fingerprint reader..a more useable keyboard with full number pad …Better trackpad….a 4k Micro edge display like the dell….HP wins in my book all day. Do your research before you buy is all I am saying. However this review was very thorough. Great job!

  4. i want this laptop so hard is what i always wanted usb c, acurate display, 2 in 1 the only thing i want and i dont know if is missing is if i cant charge it with a powerbank :'( just for keep it charge not for full charge and maybe see if i can buy an anker cable and a 60 watt wall charger in case of emergency thanks

  5. Hello there, may I ask how does it compare to 9570? How much is the difference beween 8750H and 8705G? Is 9575 16G 256G FHD capable for Pubg or FIFA 18? Will it get super hot while playing? Thank you

  6. All i want to know is if the fan gat noise in light task because there are some rumors that the XPS 15 2 in 1 have nice coolings system but it gets really loud on light task

  7. I have surface book 2. I only use photoshop and capture one. Undocking and docking to switch modes between using your keyboard or touch screen pen editing is is a pain in the ass because you have to close both programs to do so. What's the graphic acceleration performance for photoshop or capture one like on the XPS?

  8. Thank you for this great review! I'm aiming to buy the 2019 model of this laptop if it includes most of the following upgrades:

    1. 9th Generation Cannon Lake hexa core Intel G CPU (10nm architecture)
    2. 32GB to 64GB LPDDR4 / LPDDR4X SDRAM
    3. Properly positioned 1080p webcam, ideally 5+ megapixels
    4. Killer Wireless-AC 1550 [802.11 ac Wave 2 (1.73 Gbps)]
    5. Bluetooth 5
    6. Four to Six Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C 3.2) ports
    7. Improved battery life (made possible by the more efficient 10nm CPU architecture & LP RAM)
    8. 6 GB HBM2 VRAM
    9. Black color option
    10. 2 TB SSD option
    11. 120Hz 4K display (unlikely)

  9. Unfortunately, too noisy for someone that wants to use in a business environment or perform some software development at night. Let's wait for the X360 Vega, hopefully will be quieter…

  10. I hate bringing rain to someone else parade, but my high expectation of this laptop is starting to crumble. I ordered it directly on Dell official website almost two weeks ago and yesterday it arrived (China to Ireland). Firstly, I was so nervous to buy it because it cost me almost 3 thousand euro for 16GB RAM, 500GB memory, with wireless keyboard&mouse + sleeve, (almost €500 EU tariff included), however, because of good reviews on before and after release date, I decided to buy it. BUT, a big BUT!, out of my excitement while unboxing, it ended up in my DISAPPOINTMENT. When I powered it ON, it showed me weird instructions!? Like blue screen and asking me to press "ALT-F"???? I was jaw-dropped, like my expectation was to go straight to Windows 10 OS then device registration process. I tried to follow the instruction it always ended up in shutting down. It do self-diagnostic test, telling me there is no issue!? BUT..(stopping myself to say bad words), this wasn't my expectation for a very expensive laptop! Eventually, after 3rd diagnostic test, it say the OS might be corrupted!!??? So decided to call the Dell customer support, after 30 minutes typical troubleshooting over the phone. Operator took my details and say he will send an Engineer to fix it?? So today, I am waiting for that engineer and makes me vent-out my frustration here. Makes my knees feels so weak. Sorry folks, but this is like a tragedy for me.

  11. With AMD owning several patents for APUs with integrated HBM and with them currently working on new tech for "near cpu memory", I think this is just the beginning of some awesome APUs from AMD with impressive graphics performance (vs discrete graphics)
