Dell Inspiron 5482 Review

Lisa Gade reviews the Dell Inspiron 5482, the late 2018 edition of Dell’s 14” midrange 5000 series convertible laptop with 360 degree hinges, active pen support and the latest Intel 8th gen Whiskey Lake Core i7-8565U quad core CPU. The laptop has a metal casing, full HD display supporting touch and N-Trig active pens, your choice of an HDD (with or without Intel Optane Memory) or an NVMe SSD and DDR4 2400MHz RAM. It’s upgrade friendly for do-it-yourself types with an M.2 SSD slot, 2.5” drive bay and two RAM slots. Pricing starts around $540, and our config with an i7, 256GB NVMe SSD and 8GB RAM sells for around $785.

  1. Thanks for the review! Your videos have to be some of the most detailed and straightforward, and minus the BS! I think I might get the i5 version for the Labor Day sale this week.

  2. Dude I have a the same laptop, I have a question can I charge through type c ? I'm worried to try it because it might destroy the laptop. please let me know bro!

  3. I mostly use laptop for photoshop, illustrator, watching videos and maybe drawing, is this laptop good for that ?? I don't understand much about laptop thankyou 🙂

  4. I just ordered Inspiron 5482 before watching this video. 7th gen i3, 1 Tb , 8 gb ram, 2 gb Nvidia graphics. Hoping for the best !! Any advice you can give me on my model?? Do's and don'ts. Pros n cons?

  5. 04:01 – I don't think you can upgrade to 32GB. According to the documentation, it's limited to 16GB even though it has two memory banks which recognize 16GB modules. Also, a 512GB M.2 SSD limit. Arbitrary limits set by Dell? What has Dell skimped on that's preventing it from reaching the technology's full potential? What a POS, huh?

  6. I ordered the 14 5000 with the i7 processor, 16gb of ram and 512gb ssd configuration. Came to $870 with accidental damage protection after my discount. Should get it in about a week. I'm self employed and use my laptop just for work. I was hoping this model would be sufficient. I'm that weirdo that researches a purchase TO DEATH, lol, but was having a hard time finding thorough reviews in English. Thanks so much for this review!

  7. We have a new Inspiron 5482 with the i7 core processor, 14” monitor. I have nothing good to say about this model which surprises me because I’ve used Dell before with no problem. This computer has disappointed from the get go. After 3 months the computer refuses to start. Very frustrated.

  8. So what is a good option that might be a better performance at same price range with a 13 or 14 inch model vs. this one?
I would be using it to edit and post YouTube videos and watching them as well.

  9. I wish these thin and light laptops will have frames between the board and the lid. Popping out the lid and see everything like that is like you take off your shirt and see the inside organs. Having frames can help to protect the board from dust too. I'd sacrifice thinness for this! Loving my Vostro 7570 here. My next laptops will be Dell's too!

  10. Hi! It has a SSD of 256GB. Can a I add an extra HDD of 500GB for example? I want to buy this soon but I'm not sure if the 256GB are enough for me. Thank you, great review!
