24 Hours: The dance bars of Mumbai (Aired: March 2004)

24 Hours: The dance bars of Mumbai are almost a part of its urban mythology. They are endlessly re-visited by film-makers, writers and of course, the media. But the hard, disturbing reality of the lives of the bar dancers came to the surface in March 2004 when the bars were raided again and again. NDTV visited some them right after the raids and the women spoke out with unusual candour and bitterness.

  1. NDTV and congress always try to spoil India culture and soceity by pushing american western culture,, show itself a very smart modern chanel and is supported by high educated , selfish , bhogi persons.

  2. It seems like the women in East Asia are living such unhappy, tortured, dangerous life especially in India and Bangladesh. 😣😒

  3. Why should these women or men, have to justify there survival, yes I understand, sins, the ten commandments, etc,,and our own personal religion ,but we are "all" everyone, born free, our earth,a "Paradise" does not belong to any of us single individuals, it will be here when we are gone, so why does human kind, think they are so special,"oh powerful ", to deny an individual one self survival,, as long as you don't hurt or kill anyone, what right does that particular brainwash religion, have that power to deny you that right "your choice"to just live, they will have there own pain, embarrassment, pride, shame and privately have to live with it,but if these people make there own free choice,,its their choice, and their life

  4. Hats off! Respect.
If we all just save even less than 100 rs in a month & help these people. It can save a life then donating , moreover its good for our country itself.

  5. NORMALLY PEOPLE RESPECT FILM DANCERS. THERE IS HARDLY ANY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FILM/BAR DANCERS .BOTH OF THEM DO IT FOR MONEY.
THEN WHY THE FILM DANCERS DO NOT DESERVES SAME RESPECT
ONLY BECAUSE THEY ARE FROM POOR/WEAKER CLASS.

  6. The police all over the WORLD have become OPPRESSORS more than crime fighters. A good percentage (my guess about 70%) of them are so greedy and continually thinking evil that they end up most times harassing the weak / innocent. The SOCIETY at large have forsaken God and thus their CONSCIENCE.

  7. You posted poor girls stories. Post rich bar girl stories also. Girls earn minimum 500-1000. Sone earn minimum 5000. Some exceptional earn min 10000. These girls may be just 24 25 age but have fancy car with driver. They also have nice flats to reside and few even have couple of extra properties rented out. So they earn good.

You are just posting fake and poor girls stories only.

  8. We know it is very wrong Todo but if all rich people pay their tax fairly as I say as a Muslim if every body gives zakaat fairly then we will see this happening and to all people who think this is wrong if we are not feeding them them then we have no right ask Or tell them what to do just pray to almighty Allah to get strength to overcome their problems ameen

  9. That's a tip of the iceberg and one sided story. There're girls who enter the dancing career for the sake of easy money and to lure customers to quench their sexuality!

  10. Marad o nahi Jo ladaki ko ejadat n de marad o hai Jo aaroto ki ejat kare ye sari girls kamane aai hai to enake sath galat kam nahi karana chahiye jai hind enako jarur nokari milana chahiye sahi boli bahan es duniya me sabhi tana denge but khana nahi

  11. अरे भाई तेरे जैसी ना जाने कितनी औरत है क्या सब सब के सब यही काम करे बहुत काम है कितनी औरत ने तो अच्छा काम कर के घर बना लिया है मेहनत कर के

  12. I went to see a prostitute in India once she was hot. She was charging 4000 rupees for two hours. I never did anything with her just wanted to see.
